Back to School Tip and Freebie from Laurah J.
Remember that the first few days back at school set the tone for the entire year. Any behavior program you intend to use for classroom management should be put in place immediately and adhered to strictly. If you've been trying without success to find a classroom management system you like, consider Chris Biffie's Whole Brain Teaching. I found it incredibly successful (and fun) to use with my students in grades 3-5. I even created a set of posters appropriate for use with upper elementary students that are aligned with Whole Brain Teaching. They are FREE in my TpT store!

Another tip I have for back to school is to begin building a classroom community of friendship and respect right away. The best way to do this is to allow students time to get to know one another! My Get to Know You Cootie Catchers that I originally created to help my ESOL students practice social language can be a great back to school icebreaker activity for your classroom! They are also FREE in my TpT store!

I hope that back to school will be fun for you and your class this year and will set the tone for a great year of learning adventures!!

    1. I love Chris Biffle so thank you for the brain posters. I teach 8th grade but am always surprised at the ideas I get from ES teachers.

      1. Thanks Sally! I taught middle school for several years before moving to elementary, and I LOVED teaching that age group! They're really just big kids, so some of the fun ES stuff still works with them (though they'd never admit it outloud!).

    2. Thanks for the awesome giveaway! I just entered:) Just thought I'd let you know that your links aren't hyper-linked. You don't want people to get lazy when they have to copy and paste the link to enter;) I wasn't going to say anything, but I did the same thing with one of my giveaways a while back and when people couldn't click on the link to follow they got confused - just a heads up! Again, awesome giveaway - thank you! (Let me know if you want help hyperlinking:)
